It's Friday, it's time to hop!!!

Book Blogger Hop

Every week Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books (http://www.crazy-for-books.com/) hosts a blog hop. Put your link in, post a comment and you can discover a lot of great blogs. The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week. This week's question/task: What do you consider most important in a story: the plot or the characters. You could have the greatest concept with the plot, but if the characters aren't fully fleshed out the book is terrible. But of course you could have good characters and a horrible plot. However, if the plot is strong enough almost always they have good characters, too. So I have to say that plot matters more. If the plot sucks, I stop reading. What about everyone else?

Here are some blogs I came across:

Notes: A review of Under the Mercy Trees by Heather Newton will be posted in the next two or three days. I'm still looking for takers my What's Up Tweeps?! feature. Here's the question: The Amazon.com conundrum, what are your thoughts? Will you still buy from them? I'm torn. Amazon.com has been a hot button lately after their failed attempt to hide behind free speech. They let a pedophile publish a book about how other pedophiles can love children, without crossing a line. Riiiiiiiiiight!!! I know that idiot "writer" said he had never done anything to a child, but Amazon.com should have used some common sense. I know this is a long-winded question, but what are your thoughts? E-mail responses to bookangel224@gmail.com. Entries are open until Dec. 18.

  3. HI new follower here, I believe it both goes together for at least some books I have read but then I have struggled through bad plots or slow plots but continued because I loved the characters and the opposite has happened too. So reality I honestly can't say which .

  5. Happy HOP! This week's question wasn't so simple to answer but ultimately it was characters for me. That's where I make my connection to the story. Come HOP by The Bookish Snob

  8. If it's a work of fiction I really need some strong
    character development

  10. Julie: Thank you for the entry.

Bookaddict4real: I totally forgot to mention genre. With fiction for me it has to be about the plot. But with others kinds of books the person has to present themselves as an interesting character, otherwise why read it. I know I'm not interesting as a character, if I were to write a book (pipe dream) it would have to be all about the plot.

  11. This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I've seen to date.

So what's the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.

  12. I choose character over plot, but that's just me and I like everyone else I think both are important in some way. Here's my answer.
