In my mailbox: The eclectic edition

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. Anyone can participate in IMM, and you are not limited to only sharing books that arrive via your mailbox. You can also share books that you've bought or books that you've gotten at the library. I'm not going to do In My Mailbox every week, but I had another good week.

Last week, I went to my local Borders, which sadly is on the list for closure. I'm so used to going there and browsing the shelves. For me, it was a treat to do that. I can get books from Walmart or Target, and there is a smaller Borders nearby, but I'm going to miss the feel of going through a big bookstore. I did find a local indie that I can go to, but I'm on a little book buying ban (I need to save some money).

On to the business at hand...

Note: I'm looking for takers for next month's edition of What's Up Tweeps?! Here is the question: With so many blogs out there, do you feel pressure to pick a genre/niche? Ever wonder how you can stand out among the masses? E-mail entries to bookangel224@gmail.com. Entries are open until March 18. Happy reading everyone!

  7. Alison: Veganist is about living a lifestyle without animal products. For me that would be extremely hard, but perhaps I could do it partially. Who knows!

I hope Delirium lives up to the hype, I loved Before I Fall.

  10. Hi--found you through BookBelle's site when I was browsing there and am now a new follower. I wanted to comment because you have so many new books from Algonquin, and they're just about my favorite publisher! I also saw that your Borders store is closing but that you have a local indie store, but that you're trying to save money...I work in a local indie bookstore myself and we sometimes let customers read our advance reading copies in exchange for writing a short "shelf talker." You might want to check with your local indie store and see if they're willing to do that for you, too. That way you get to read lots of new/forthcoming books and the bookstore gets free reviews in store and maybe a free mention on your blog.

  11. That's good to know. I didn't know some stores did that. That's something to look into.
