Chance at a retreat and blog hop

Feeling tired from the daily grind? Interested a little retreat? How about a mountain top retreat? If that sounds good to you, then enter M.L Malcolm's contest. The contest is in preparation for the publication of her novel ...

Heart of Deception: A Novel

Heart of Deception is the continuing saga of Leo Hoffman. I reviewed the previous book Heart of Lies and loved it. The contest is aimed at those who pre-order Heart of Deception (due out on April 1), but no purchase is necessary. Sounds like fun, give it a try!!

No on to the business at hand...
Book Blogger Hop

Every week Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books hosts a blog hop. Put your link in, post a comment and you can discover a lot of great blogs. The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week. This week's question/task: If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till? Hmmmmm!! Let me think. I had to go to my list on Goodreads. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (I know it's bad not have a copy. Plus, I've never read it), Backseat Saints by Joshilyn Jackson, So Much for That by Lionel Shriver, Dark Song by Gail Giles, Perfect Peace by Daniel Black, Skippy Dies by Paul Murray and Even Silence has an End by Ingrid Betancourt. I'm sure that's more than $80, but I'm sucker for books!!

  1. I don't think I have read To Kill a Mockingbird so you are not alone (if I have I don't remember it).

I have read Backseat Saints. This is a book where I overlooked a major theme in the novel (the author wanted to write about the 'underground' for women leaving an abusive situation). I enjoyed We need to talk about Kevin but haven't read Shriver's new book.

    Great list!

  2. To Kill a Mockingbird is a MUST read for everyone! You can't go wrong! Just hopping through and I have to say anyone who has a flower of the day is going to get my vote - no matter what! I am your newest follower!
    Have a great weekend!

  3. Just hopping by.. You sure have some interesting demands there with you $80.

PS> Love your blog design and am a new follower. Btw, I also thought I should invite you to participate in my new weekly meme called theme thursday. Do check it out here

  4. Wow! What a great question this week. I always peek at other people's book piles at the checkout link at B&N. That doesn't make me a voyeur, does it?

The exhibitionist in me has posted my own bookstore shopping list -- and it's not as predictable as you may think!

Hop on over to my blog for all the suspense and chills of my TBR list -

    Happy Hop Friday!

  5. I know it's so bad I haven't read To Kill a Mockingbird. There were copies of the new edition at BEA last, and silly me didn't think to get one.

  6. I agree with the comment that To Kill A Mockingbird is a must read. I read it some 20+ years ago.... I still have a crush on Atticus Finch!

  7. Hopping by like the rest.

To Kill a Mockingbird is an amazing book. You won't regret reading it. I think I've read it maybe three or four times. I'd love to hear what you think of it.

To A Journey in Reading: I can't say I have a crush on him, but Atticus Finch is definitely one of my literary heroes.

  8. Coming through on the hop. Come and see what I chose!

  9. Hi! Just stopping by on the Hop. Old Follower here.
    Great picks.
    Have a great weekend :)

  10. Hey - just hoppin by! Hope you have a great weekend! Happy reading! The only one on your list I have is To Kill a Mockingbird. Stop by The Wormhole and see what I think I would spend my money on!

  11. To Kill a Mockingbird was good....had read it in high school and again for the 50th anniversary.

Will have to check out the others on your list...this week's question is GREAT....more books to add to stack. :)

Stop by my blog if you like to see my answer.
