It's Friday, it's time to hop!!!

Book Blogger Hop

Every week Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books ( hosts a blog hop. Put your link in, post a comment and you can discover a lot of great blogs. The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week. This week's question/task: What do you consider most important in a story: the plot or the characters. You could have the greatest concept with the plot, but if the characters aren't fully fleshed out the book is terrible. But of course you could have good characters and a horrible plot. However, if the plot is strong enough almost always they have good characters, too. So I have to say that plot matters more. If the plot sucks, I stop reading. What about everyone else?

Here are some blogs I came across:

Notes: A review of Under the Mercy Trees by Heather Newton will be posted in the next two or three days. I'm still looking for takers my What's Up Tweeps?! feature. Here's the question: The conundrum, what are your thoughts? Will you still buy from them? I'm torn. has been a hot button lately after their failed attempt to hide behind free speech. They let a pedophile publish a book about how other pedophiles can love children, without crossing a line. Riiiiiiiiiight!!! I know that idiot "writer" said he had never done anything to a child, but should have used some common sense. I know this is a long-winded question, but what are your thoughts? E-mail responses to Entries are open until Dec. 18.

  1. Great blog! Stopping by from the hop :) Have you tried participating in Parajunkie's Follow Friday? It's a great way to meet new people and find people to follow! Here's the link:
Hope you have a great holiday!

  2. Thanks Hannah. I'm guessing Follow Friday is just as it sounds. I've never done it, but after looking at the blog it's something I should check into. Happy holidays!

  3. HI new follower here, I believe it both goes together for at least some books I have read but then I have struggled through bad plots or slow plots but continued because I loved the characters and the opposite has happened too. So reality I honestly can't say which .

  4. I can understand the pull with both, I'm just a sucker for a strong plot. Thanks for the follow. I'm off to check out your blog.

  5. Happy HOP! This week's question wasn't so simple to answer but ultimately it was characters for me. That's where I make my connection to the story. Come HOP by The Bookish Snob

  6. Visiting from the blog hop. Good review of The Remains. You make me want to read it.

  7. Hi,
Hopping by and following through. I find the two inseperable to be honest

  8. Hello! It’s great to see what other bloggers think!

I have some signed books up for grabs at my blog. Here’s my post:

    I hope you drop by!

  9. If it's a work of fiction I really need some strong
    character development

  10. I'm a new follower - and I'm sending you an email right away with the content of my recent post about the Amazon debacle.

  11. Julie: Thank you for the entry.

Bookaddict4real: I totally forgot to mention genre. With fiction for me it has to be about the plot. But with others kinds of books the person has to present themselves as an interesting character, otherwise why read it. I know I'm not interesting as a character, if I were to write a book (pipe dream) it would have to be all about the plot.

  12. This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I've seen to date.

So what's the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.

  13. I choose character over plot, but that's just me and I like everyone else I think both are important in some way. Here's my answer.

  14. Lots of good answers to this week's tough question.

Hopping by from the blog hop.

Stop by my blog to see my answer to this week's question.

I love to look at blog designs and header designs.

Also check out a design site I found...pretty neat home decorating is in the right side panel on my blog.

    Happy Holidays!!
